iOS and Android app to help gig economy workers find new jobs and share information with others.

Why

I saw a growing demand for services that filled the gap between 1099 and W2 workers. I also thought the debate between where or not gig economy workers should be classified as employees or not was missing the idea of collective leverage. I thought that by providing a tool where gig workers could both communicate with each other and find jobs they may not know about, it would give them more leverage to earn higher wages.

Learnings

• Tough market and target customer to make a business.
• Customer base is ever changing and typically are looking to cut expenses, not increase.
• People take on gig jobs for many different reasons so it’s challenging to align incentives.
• The most valuable data lies in the gig economy platform companies and they have incentive to not share it.
