Purpose

This code establishes the values of Disco Labs and what the expectations of you are as part of our team. These expectations are not about the actual work you deliver each day, but all about the way we work together, your attitude and behaviour.

What is our mission?

Disco Labs’ mission has two complementary parts - one external, the other internal.

Our external mission is to be hands down the best company in the world at building software that helps merchants succeed. This requires us to deliver work of an exceptional standard, to always leave our clients and customers with a positive experience, and to be constantly earning the respect and trust of our peers and colleagues.

Conquering the world is all well and good, but at the end of the day it's more important that we're happy about the work we're doing, who we're doing it with, and the impact it's having on our own lives and the lives of others in society. We therefore have an equally important internal mission: to build the company we want to work for, that genuinely prioritises people and values over profit, and serves as a role model to our industry.

Disco Values

We have four core values that guide our work.

While it’s easy to lay out a list, we know that we’ll judge and be judged by how well we live up to these in the real world.

We are genuine

We don’t use empty words or present a façade of what Disco is like as a company, to team members or clients.

We pride ourselves on transparency.

We are human and recognise that everyone else is to.

We are invested

We care about what we’re doing, and seek only to do work that has a genuine impact for our clients and customers.

We care about each other and want everyone to grow, learn and succeed in their role.

We put the needs and wellbeing of people above deadlines, profit, or arbitrary company goals.

We are experts

We pride ourselves on our deep technical knowledge. If it can be done on Shopify, we can do it.

We openly teach what we know to our ecosystem through events, groups, products, and open source.
