Our first EdenOS election was arranged by groups of 5 members following the "More Equal Animals" book's proposal that the new true democracy governance needs to implement a political playoff requires organizing a population into random groupings of 4 to 12 people in a way that gives everyone involved high confidence in the integrity of the randomness. This division in small groups attracted me because I also believe that people could better know, interact and help each other this way.
I remember when I first heard about the Amoeba Management System adopted in the japanese company Kyocera in 2007, created by Kazuo Inamori, the company CEO at that time, arranged the workers in group of 5 (called amoebas), with a clearly defined purpose of making profit for itself. Accordingly the Everipedia article about the system, as the number of members of an Amoeba is small, so the results appear immediately, thus it is easy to give personnel a sense of ownership. Also it is easy to develop and identify leaders with management skills using the amoebas and since the profitability metrics of an amoeba are unified, it is easy to weed out the competition between amoebas.
The "More Equal Animals" book also makes a similar parallel, mentioning in the chapter "Mimicking Biology" that cell size is limited and multiple cells cooperate to create larger organisms. Another philosophical theory inspired by biology in human societies was Positivism, its modern approach was formulated by the philosopher Auguste Comte in the early 19th century and influenced the brazilians first republicans so much that the flag of the country I live has part of a positivism motto "progress and order". From the original Comte's phrase: “Love as the beginning, and order as the base; progress as the end.”
The Amoeba Management System creator now is a budhist priest, it's said that he also implemented the system in other companies he ruled, KDDI and Japan Airlines. The numbers of people on amoebas are recomended to be from 5 to 50. I've heard that 5 is a number considered perfect or magic in eastern culture. In Japan, there is the famous book The Book of Five Rings supposedly written by the famous and legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi.
I confess I'm also have a fixation in repetition and magic numbers. I was very happy when after my EdenOS induction was approved, Thomas Hallgren told me I was the member 250.
Keep safe, thanks and good luck again!
