πŸš€ Key Lessons & Achievements

In the first few days, we had the amazing opportunity to learn about the general semiconductor industry AIO is a part of and the fundamentals of computer science behind semiconductors. This went through lectures, seminars, as well as individual or group-led research. Through this, we mainly, of course, learned about the AIO and its role of making (micro) SD cards, and NAND Flash solutions, including the controller chip, and so on.

But even further, memorable aspects were, for instance, the discussion of semiconductors and systems, including the system hierarchy and fundamental structures of systems, including CPU, cache, main memory (DRAM), and the following persistent, Non volatile Memory like NAND Flash, which this company works on.

Stuck in my head was also the general structure of Tech and innovations with SoC at the bottom, with applied firmware and SW stack, as well as its conclusive arrival as applications, since this framework allowed us to understand in which space or category certain companies of the Tech ecosystem are working on and running their business in.

We also got a brief overview of the general landscape of the chip industry and the market direction, with insights on the market caps and values, as well as acknowledgement of emerging specialized processing units like the GPU, NPU, TPU for parallel calculation and AI model training, etc.

Of course, another notable aspect is becoming familiar with the technical functioning of memory learning terminologies and the related hardware concepts, including floating gates, data leakage in capacitors, and the significance of retention, refreshing (rewriting of data), and the specific components like ECCs and Controllers and their roles within, for example, a NAND Flash solution.
