Jamboard - pg 6-8 for sticky notes recorded from the meeting.
Update on the mini investigations
- Arran and Jamie gave a quick update on the work being done to scope out a Wiki data project. They will share the proposal in the next few weeks.
- Stefania shared how her work is expanding into folk songs/music and also how she and Nina are looking further into 'text to speech' technology as an alternative to traditional digitising (but that more conventional digitisation for oral history summaries is still on the table)
- Tim S is putting together a proposal on how he can move his investigations forward with the 'the mills are alive' project. A meeting has been scheduled for early September to discuss this in more detail.
- Simon, Paul Craddock and Simon's PhD student Yuan are looking into further forms of recording and even potentially interested in some augmented reality work. He will keep us updated as this progresses.
- Will has started identifying potential inquiries to pursue through Quarry Bank Mill. They will become more clear after the visit to QBM on 7 Sept.
Call for participation for the Manchester
- Helen and Arran talked through the reasons and thinking behind the call and invited feedback. Will and Stefania made suggestions that have been incorporated (final version in the Textiles folder on the Congruence Engine HQ).
- Arran asked for everyone to contribute to a document with suggestions on where to share the call for participation. Spreadsheet is here: Places to share Mcr call for participation.xlsx
Changes to the meetings
- Tim updated on these meetings and how we intend on inviting more people to ensure all the necessary people are able to feed into the development of the textile strand and the action research. Nina to update the meeting request once Tim has sent out an email.
AOB
- Tim and Stefania informed us about the SMG conference on textiles happening at the Science and Industry Museum on 17-18 November. They asked for any thoughts or contributions to go to Stefania asap.
