Update on the next set of investigations

Tim B updated on Alex Butterworth becoming Project Lead for Digital History and subsequent work that has gone into creating digital through lines in all the potential investigations that came out of the Manchester workshop. We updated on the use of the term Pipeline to talk about the different processed in a digital project.

Update on Home Ground

Tim S explained how Home Ground was going to the AHRC Exhibitions fund with Helen Graham being PI fro UoL, Tim S being the lead researcher / practitioner, and partners being Congruence Engine and SMG, Brick Box and a range of Bradford based community heritage people (who aren't named because they aren't confirmed yet). Bradford City of Culture is also interested and keen to be involved.Stefania offered to focus her oral histories work with the BHRU on stories related to migration from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan in support of the work Home Ground is interested in.It was noted that Nottingham Trent University, who did the Textiles Stories project, are also going for the same bid.

Trade Directories workshop

Tim B and Stefania gave a quick update on the Trade Directories workshop that had taken place earlier in the week at the Turing Institute. It brought together data scientists, humanists and software engineers to look at ways of making trade directories more machine readable. It was organised by Daniel Wilson. The workshop focusing on a particular issue proved to be quite effective and is a possible model we might want to re-use again in the future.A fuller summary will be posted in due course.
