Some notes on the discussions.
Update on the Workshop on Manchester
- The Manchester workshop is happening 20/21 October. Programme available here: https://public.3.basecamp.com/p/krK3uMSzCw5WQGvb9jbUuosK
- Aim of the workshop is to draw together new and emerging inquiries that will be firmed up after the workshop.
- Helen, Stefania and Arran have met with participants who are not part of Congruence Engine yet. Still some movement in the final list of people attending.
The potential of thematic digital collections
- Maggie shared the idea of a small scale connection of collections related to Salt as an experiment. We suggested it could form part of a mini-investigation, and also be linked to the textile exhibit.
- There is scope for something like this to stretch across multiple strands - looking at textiles, energy and communications.
- Maggie agreed to share more details of the proposal
Content for the first textile exhibit
- Tim B asked everyone to start thinking and sharing content ideas for the first exhibit.
- These can be posted on the textiles strand working group on Basecamp.
- Helen raised a question about the big idea for the exhibit - are we designing a brief to help frame the content selection, or are we developring a brief out of the content? Potential to consider something like 'to national collection' as a verb as a framing for the exhibit.
- First exhibit meeting happening on 24th October
Crossover topics between Energy & Textiles
- Graeme asked the group to start actively thinking about potential ways or investigations that will crossover between textiles and energy. These could be thematic, methodological or material questions.
- We agreed this would be a good question to keep in mind for the workshop.
