Terms & Conditions

1. Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  1. All users with a valid Participant ID and a Twitter account are eligible to enter the competition and win a prize. By “valid Participant ID” we mean, your Prolific account must have an "OK" account status and are not "banned," "on hold," or exhibiting any other restricted condition, as determined by Prolific.

Who isn’t eligible?

  1. Employees or contractors of Prolific Academic Ltd, their family members, or participants with a banned, deleted, or on-hold account are not eligible to enter the competition.

No purchase is necessary to be in with a chance of winning a prize or in order to receive the prize.

2. Method of Entry

How do I enter the competition?

  1. To participate, retweet our competition post using the quote tweet functionality on Twitter and tell us about the best study you’ve taken on Prolific, and why that was the best study in your opinion.

3. Timing

When is the competition happening?

  1. The competition opens on Wednesday 5th July 2023 at 11am BST.
  2. The competition closes on Sunday 9th July at 11.59pm BST.
  3. The winners will be announced on the Prolific Twitter account on Tuesday 11th July 2023.
  4. The winners will be contacted via the Twitter direct messaging feature on Tuesday 11th July 2023.
  5. Entries made outside of the relevant dates and time will not be eligible.

4. Winner selection

How does the winner get chosen?

  1. Winner Selection:
    1. All eligible entrants details will be placed in a spreadsheet and numbered. We will use Random.org to select a number between 1 and the total number of entrants. Once a number has been randomly generated, we will refer to the spreadsheet to find the Twitter handle associated with the winner. We will repeat this process for second, third, fourth and fifth prizes.

5. Prize Descriptions

What will the prize be?

  1. First prize: one ÂŁ200 ThankYouCodes voucher; and the opportunity to pick a theme for the Prolific mug which shows when waiting for studies on the Prolific participant app.
  2. Second prize: one ÂŁ100 ThankYouCodes voucher.
  3. Third prize: one ÂŁ50 ThankYouCodes voucher.
  4. Fourth prize: one ÂŁ30 ThankYouCodes voucher.
  5. Fifth prize: one ÂŁ20 ThankYouCodes voucher.

All winners will receive a Prolific-branded sweatshirt, and a Prolific-branded water bottle from Swagbucks.

Participants can choose to receive the voucher in any one of the following currencies: US Dollars, Euros or Great British Pounds. The foreign exchange currency conversion rate will be checked on the date that the prizes are issued and the voucher will match the equivalent of the prize in Great British Pounds.
