Work orders

Standard work order

Other commonly used terminology includes jobs, items and tasks. We also use WO as short for work order.

These are also called templates. A set of work orders that are frequently used, and as such standard templates are stored and made available for easy reuse.

Planning stage

Snippets

This is a reference to the process of writing a specification.

Snippets are chunks/pieces of text, also known as text snippets. These text snippets are just like standard work orders stored and made available for easy reuse.

Daily reports

Progress updates

These are reports sent by the Superintendent (or whomever is running the project) to various stakeholders.

These are sent from workers, both external and internal workers, to the Superintendent (or whomever is running the project) and are progress updates on the work that they are assigned to.

Variation orders

These are changes to the project scope made while the project is in the Execution stage (at the yard). Variation orders are also known as change orders.
