We are a community-based project that creates and cultivates spaces where Black, Indigenous, and people of colour in the tech industry are centered and celebrated. We aim to bring racialized people who want to learn and build innovative technology together in a supported environment with mentors from the community.

April Alayon (They/them)
They solve problems one pixel at a time between hours of 9 to 5. Apart from being a front end developer, they are also a visual artist, designer and bedroom musician.
They founded TechInColour in 2018 with the burning passion to change systemic problems within the tech industry and making it more equitable for everyone.
They are an SFU and BCIT alumni. They have held a fellowship on technology and citizenship from Institute of Canadian Citizenship that helped launched the first year of TechInColour projects and events.
Hussain Dhanani (He/him)
He’s a Product Manager focusing on building digital confidence through visual testing at Sauce Labs in Vancouver, Canada. One of his biggest values is the power of connection. He puts time and effort into meeting with folx from all walks of life because he believes this is an important action each one of us can take to build a better understanding of those around us.
He plays an active role around DEI initiatives in Vancouver, including his speaking engagements at various events and meetups, including DisruptHR YVR to speak about what’s missing in the DEI conversation in workplaces. He is passionate about encouraging folx to seek understanding, new learnings, and unlearnings in order to create a space for others to thrive, whether it be in their personal lives or professional lives.
