The tasks to be used for TKAT Primary Writing

(for The Kemnal Academies Trust schools only)

TKAT Primary Writing consists of two national judging windows per year, for each year group 1-6:

• Sept/Oct - all year groups 1-6
• Feb/March - Y2 & Y6 only
• May - Y1, Y3, Y4 & Y5 only

We will release the task for each window at the beginning of the writing window (go to the task and the Download national assessment documents link to access them). We will also email you at the beginning of the writing window when the task is available.

Tasks and timing

Each window involves a specific piece of writing where we provide the stimulus that will prompt the students to write.

• Y1-Y2 will use a common stimulus.
• Y3-Y6 will use a common stimulus.

All the tasks should be completed in no more than one hour.

Conditions

When you judge these tasks, 80%* of the judgements you do will involve comparisons of your students. The other 20% will involve comparisons of writing from students from other schools.* This means that in order for the comparisons to be fair, students in different schools have to complete the work under the same conditions.
