Common Audio Errors and Solutions

Problem How to Fix
Hiss, Hum, Buzz (Mic Background Noise) Lower mic sensitivity, reduce background noise, and stay away from loud devices like fans or fridges
Outside Noise (Manual Background Noise) Wait for the noise to stop before continuing your recording
Plosive Sounds (Mic "Pops") Use a pop filter and maintain proper mic distance. If pops persist, adjust the distance between the microphone and pop filter
Popping or Clicking Ensure microphone connections are secure and software settings are stable
Reverb (Room Echo) Record in spaces with acoustic treatments. Maintain 6-12 inches distance from the microphone.
Distortion/Clipping Lower input gain, avoid shouting, and adjust levels within an acceptable range.
Boominess (Proximity Effect) Adjust mic placement, especially with directional microphones.
Sibilance Adjust mic placement (tilting the microphone slightly away from your mouth)
Volume (Weak Signal) Increase microphone gain and adjust your mic's position.
