I send out an online survey through the web to see if people every had the thought of writing, and if they do, what the struggles were they had to encounter. My survey had a lot of different branches based on the answer, so that explains why the amount of people responding to specific questions may be low sometimes. I had a total of 11 people answering the survey.

The questions and results are as follows:

I think it's really cool that so many people are still thinking about writing or at one point had the thought. This just shows how many are interested.

There are a few reasons people gave up on writing, but the one that seems to be named the most is giving up because they think their work is not good enough.

It seems that most people are interested writing for a movie, though a book is a close second.

A great majority would use a tool where they can learn the basics of writing.

The way of learning is a close tie for everyone. Maybe I can combine this?

The most common answers are: Exercises for learning to write and some kind of feedback system

Almost everyone would like help from a professional writer.

Conclusion

I was surprised to learn that only 7.1% from all these people never had the thought of writing. I was expecting that to be much and much more. This shows how many people are interested in writing. I was sad to see that there was no professional writer who could answer the questions I had. I can base a lot of my product requirements from this survey, because these are people that are in my target groups. The reason why people didn't proceed to write are some good pain-points I want to solve. I regret the question about in what way people want to learn, through a game was really low, but I don't think people didn't really understood what I meant with it, game mechanics. In the end I was really glad with the results, it confirmed some assumptions I had and it made me learn more about the pain-points beginning writers experience.
