<aside> 💡 WHY you should join Sunrise

We are a local hub of the national movement for climate justice, established in spring 2020 to advocate for a Green NEU Deal (a pun on the Green New Deal, which Sunrise helped write and advocate for with AOC)
On campus, we try to educate students on climate issues, create spaces for more complex climate conversations, and bridge the gap between learning about environmental issues to actually doing something about them.
- That looks like a lot of different things! Often, meetings will be an educational presentation format one week, with the next meeting doing some sort of activity or action related to the previous meeting’s presentation.
We also have fun social events! In the past, we’ve:
- gone apple picking 🍎
- done trivia nights 💬
- had group boba trips 🧋

We have monthly themes that we educate and organize around. The Fall 2023 themes are:
- Policy and Systems Change;
- Divestment from Fossil Fuels;
- Food Insecurity in Boston;
- and International Climate Movements
The Green NEU Deal is an ongoing research project that is created by members to envision what a more sustainable northeastern looks like
We contribute to a divestment campaign to encourage the university to divest from fossil fuels
