Although our child's private tutor seems to be kind, do they often shake your head? It's been a while since the lessons started, but is the child's performance not improving, causing you to worry? Did you hastily find a tutor who was available at the time? Did you choose the lessons solely because they were inexpensive?

Many parents may choose private tutors for various reasons, but I dare say that you shouldn't let just any tutor teach your child in a crucial lesson that affects their life.

Currently, there are numerous private tutoring companies and instructors. However, there are also doubts about whether they are truly qualified teachers. This is undoubtedly an issue of attitude.

Private Tutor Checklist:

1. Insufficient preparation of teaching materials and improper homework management, resulting in wasting lesson time.
2. Tutors who prioritize their own schedules and frequently cancel or arrive late for lessons..
3. Instructors who lack tutoring experience but emphasize their qualifications to demand higher hourly rates.
4. Tutors who view tutoring as a part-time job or side gig to earn money.
5. Teachers who falsify their experience or frequently lie.
6. Instructors who proceed with lessons without a proper plan, neglect homework assignments, or fail to adjust the pace.
7. Tutors recommended by acquaintances with unverified impressive qualifications and outdated experience.
8. Instructors who only progress through the curriculum without providing appropriate review sessions

If two or more of the above apply, I recommend looking for a new tutor immediately.

In the industry, we often hear saying this: "Being a student at Seoul National University doesn't guarantee being a good teacher." This statement holds a lot of meaning.

Having impressive qualifications alone doesn't make someone the best at teaching students. Besides qualifications, professional instructors must also possess a sense of responsibility and the right attitude.
