Getting ready for an interview? It can feel a little overwhelming — we get it. At Headway Inc, one of our core values is Collaborate, and we believe the best ideas (and results!) come from teamwork. That’s why we want to support you at this stage.
We’ve gathered some tips from our teammates to help you prepare and feel more confident throughout the hiring process. Here you go!

The first call with a recruiter is a great moment to set the tone — to show your personality, your intention, and your curiosity about the company. These are a few things that helped me feel confident before my intro call with Headway Inc.

🧠 Understand the context. Go beyond the “About us” page — explore the brand voice, recent initiatives, social presence, and team stories. It helps you connect to the culture, not just the facts.
🎯 Know where you're heading. Have clarity on what you’re looking for — growth, impact, learning, the type of work and team you want. The more specific you are, the easier it is for a recruiter to see your fit.
🪄 Bring curiosity and energy. Ask thoughtful questions — about culture rituals, learning, feedback culture, autonomy, and how success looks in the role. Genuine interest reads as confidence and emotional intelligence.
Be brave, be you. Good luck!

The first interview stage is behind you, and now you’ve got the test task. Let’s be honest — you’re already super excited, but also a bit nervous because you want to do your best. Totally normal! To help things go smoothly, here are a few tips that helped me succeed with my test and move on to the next stage.

🧩 Read the task like LEGO instructions. Don’t skip the details! If something isn’t clear, ask — this shows responsibility and attention to detail.
☺️ Stick to the style but keep your spark. Add a nice touch that highlights your unique style. A bit of creativity = magic. Too much = distraction.
👀 Show your process—behind-the-scenes is love. Share sketches or screenshots with comments like, “Here’s where it all started.” It helps us see how you think.
⏰ Deadlines are a must. Submit on time. And if something unexpected comes up, give a heads-up — it’s always better than last-minute surprises.
📂 Make it delivery-ready. Package your test in a neat, clear format. Add a short note explaining your idea or approach — it makes your work shine.
☺️ Be yourself, not a mystery character. If you get feedback or questions, respond openly. Don’t be afraid to clarify things, and don’t stress if something didn’t go perfectly. Stay authentic with yourself and your future teammates.
I believe in you!

A test task is your chance to show not only your skills but also your approach to work and problem-solving mindset. It’s more than a technical check — it’s an opportunity to present yourself as a professional. So make the most of it!

🔎 Review the requirements carefully. Make sure you fully understand every point. If something’s unclear, ask — communication is always better than assumptions.
💻 Keep your code clean and structured. Follow quality standards and write code that’s easy to read. Adding automated tests is highly recommended — it shows your attention to reliability and that you value functional checks.
✨ Go the extra mile. Add a feature or optimization that shows strategic thinking and creativity. That extra effort never goes unnoticed. Remember, this is your moment to highlight not just your technical skills but your whole approach to work.
You’ve got this!

An interview isn’t just a knowledge check — it’s your chance to show how you think and how you work with real problems.

🧩 Go beyond short answers. Explain how you’ve applied a technology or approach in practice, what challenges you faced, and how you solved them.
🧠 Think out loud. Walk the interviewer through your reasoning, comment on your decisions, and explain why you chose certain tools or algorithms. This helps them understand your thought process, even if the final result isn’t perfect.
❓Don’t hesitate to ask clarifying questions. This shows depth and helps you get to the right solution — it’s a strength, not a weakness.
🗣️ Communicate clearly. Explain ideas simply and in a structured way, as if you were talking to a colleague.
