The next step that needs to be done is to create model checking rules.

You may ask:

Untitled

These are user-defined rules that specify which model elements we are going to check. Using rules we set specific conditions which determine if a given element cause a clash or not.

To simplify our example, we will check only clashes between the architectural model and the mechanical one.

Let’s see how it looks in Solibri. First, we go to File – Ruleset Manager.

<aside> 💡 Solibri already has examples of default rulesets and rules which you can use as a template. We will use them. These templates can be found in Ruleset Folder

In the Ruleset Manager, go to Ruleset Folder and select the ruleset that checks the clashes between MEP models and Architectural models (letter A, picture below).

Then we select the appropriate rule (letter B) in the Workspace window.

In the Properties panel, (letter C) you see which elements will be checked by this particular rule. In our case, as Component 1 we set all elements from the disciplinary model - Architectural. As Component 2 we set all elements from the disciplinary model - Air Conditioning

<aside> 💡 Reminder: In step 4 we set disciplines for each IFC model. Mechanical model has discipline Air Conditioning in our example.

Solibri gives you great possibilities to filter, classify, and group rules in various ways so that they will check what we really need. The checking capabilities of Ruleset Manager are endless.

The very subject of creating rules and checking the model is HUGE- below you can find a link to a short video showing how to set simple rules in Solibri.

Your homework

Please go to Checking tab in your Solibri file. You should see Choose Role window (picture below). Here are listed roles available in the project. These are predefined Solbiri roles. Pick the BIM Coordination role, and click Next, Solibri will automatically suggest a few rulesets for our further job.
