Archive Entry #003 Documented by: Archivist Quill Status: Partially documented - they're difficult to observe directly

Species: Startail Crystal Affinity: Celestial Region of Origin: The Celestial Skies Rarity: Rare

Field Notes

Startails are fox-like familiars whose tails contain crystallized starlight. They are most commonly sighted at dusk and dawn, when the boundary between sky and land is thinnest. Their fur appears to contain actual constellations - this is a visual illusion caused by bioluminescent crystal fragments Update: Quill has observed a Startail whose constellation pattern changed with the season. This is not consistent with static crystal fragments. Further study needed.

They move quietly and tend to appear when someone is stargazing, lost, or quietly wishing for something. Whether this is coincidence or intention is a matter of ongoing debate in the Archive.

Personality

Gentle. Observant. Present in a way that feels deliberate. Startails don't demand attention — they simply appear where they're needed. They're the familiar most likely to sit with you in comfortable silence.

Adoption Notes

Startails choose carefully. If one has appeared in your collection, consider it a compliment. Sticker sheet currently in progress - the shopkeeper is still capturing the way their tails catch the light.
