This resource introduces a flexible but structured, self-guided process for using the Impact and Improvement (I&I) Standards to reflect on and strengthen your youth provision. We use the word ‘provision’ as a shorthand for whatever it is that you offer for young people - whether that’s a programme, project, service, or something else entirely. The principles and practices within the Standards can apply to a wide range of approaches, including open-access drop-in sessions, structured programmes with defined start and end points, and everything in between.
As you move through the process, you’ll be supported to develop useful ‘artefacts’ - like a theory of change, a monitoring and evaluation plan, or an improvement action plan - that help make your thinking visible and actionable. You can see how this looks in practice by exploring the example Pen Portraits of Users . We encourage you to take a flexible and open-minded approach as you apply the Standards and the process to your work, keeping sight of your core goals and priorities.
For those funding youth provision, we have provided some specific ‣.
