Function: Carrying haemoglobin which binds to oxygen
- No nucleus → more space for oxygen
- Biconcave shape → increases surface area
- Small and flexible → can fit through narrow blood capillaries

Function: To carry electrical signals from one part of the body to another
- Long → to cover more distance between different parts of the body
- Dendrites (branched connections) → connect to other nerve cells
