General requirements for remote speakers
Every remote speaker has to have certain amount of hardware and software.
Technical and software requirements
- A laptop, a modern smartphone or a PC with all necessary accessories. You will need a holder or a tripod that is firmly fixed on a surface.
- Headphones with microphone (headset). It can be a standard smartphone headset. It can be bought separately. Types of connection and subtypes of inner workings can differ. It is necessary to test your headset beforehand. It can work properly with a phone but not with a laptop. In case of a low quality headset or lack of it you can use internal microphone of your laptop and speakers. However it may affect the quality of sound in a bad way.
- Internet connection must be solid. Data transfer speed on speedtest.net must be more than 5 Mbps. The ping must be less than 100 ms. Wired connection is recommended if possible. A stable home / office Wi-Fi is also an option. An LTE/4G (not 3G) connection can be used as a least preferable.
- The web cam or video camera resolution must not be lower than 720p. Aspect ratio must be 16:9.. If one has no access to appropriate equipment, lower quality (480p / 4:3) is also an option. Check the camera, there must be no fingerprints, dirt or dust.
- It is necessary to check in advance your devices’ settings as well as the setting of browser and application. Ask your friends or colleagues to check your connection the day before. Lightning requirements. Soft frontal light is preferable, so there are no shadows on the face or on the wall. If one has a window in the room he needs to seat facing the window. One must remember about external light changing, so a lamp or another artificial light can help to neutralize those changes.
- Framing requirements. The lower frame must be on the center or the chest. On the center of the screen.
- Clothes requirements. To avoid moire effect one can wear mini cheks or mini strips clothes.
