Leave entitlement

According to Article 21 of the collective agreement, employees are entitled to 23 days of holidays per year. However, Orbit establishes that its employees are entitled to 25 days of holidays per year plus 1 extra day on the birthday of the employee. Holidays and other leave days must be requested by using our HR application.

Bank holidays

The festive work calendar to be applied to employees in Spain will be the one that applies to the current location of each individual employee. To manage leave related to bank holidays, employees must follow these instructions.

Moving bank holidays

Employees can decide to work during a bank holiday that applies to their location, in exchange for another day. The only limitation is that the requested replacement day must be within -15/+15 days from the original bank holiday.

Such will be requested as "In Lieu of" leave and the request must specify which bank holiday is the leave in exchange for.

Notice for requesting leave

There are no specific rules on how much in advance you need to request holidays. Nonetheless, you should check with your team members and colleagues to ensure that everyone is aware and that it does not create any problem.

Sick leave

Our sick leave policy works on a trust basis, meaning, there is no need to produce any documents from a doctor to justify a sick leave unless requested explicitly by Orbit. However, for sickness resulting in a long term leave or a temporary incapacitation, the employee will need to notify the company and follow the process for requesting temporary or long term medical sick leave.

Holiday carry over

Employees must do their best to take regular breaks and make use of their holiday entitlement within the natural year. Any unused holiday entitlement won't be compensated economically.

However, each employee will optionally have the opportunity to carry over a total of 3 days, to be used within the first quarter of the following year. To ensure that the carry over takes place, the employee must request it explicitly to her/his manager before the end of the natural year.
