Wales returns to the Venice Biennale with "Sownd," a collaborative sculptural environment by Manon Awst and critic Dylan Huw, curated by Steffan Jones-Hughes and Catherine Spring, organized by Arts Council of Wales.
"Sownd" (Welsh: meaning both "stuck" and "foundationally sound") combines organic materials, found objects, texts, sonic and architectural interventions. Responsive to the historic Instituto Santa Maria della PietΓ , the work explores tension and resilience in minoritised languages and environments.
Born in 1983 on Anglesey. Sculptor/installation artist based in Caernarfon. Studied architecture at Cambridge, Artistic Research at Royal College of Art London. Future Wales Fellowship 2023β25.
