Your Guide to the French Riviera: Travel Guide, Itinerary & Tips

*The best time to visit the South of France is by late April to May and late September till mid-October. Apart from the winter season, visiting the South of France during summer is not worth it - the crowd and the heat.

This gallery covers photos from all attractions in the South of France. Town and cities covered include: Grasse, Cannes, Nice (Nice Ville), Villefranche-sur-mer, Beaulieu-sur-mer, St. Jean-Cap-Ferrat (only Villa Ephrussi Rothschild), Èze, Monaco, and Menton.

Unfortunately, Antibes was not covered here. There was nothing to see in Cap d’Ail except the beach so I did not bother.

The galleries for Nice and Monaco are covered separately. (Just click on the texts).

Grasse

The capital of French perfumes. Originally a leather making village, but produced perfumes to mask the smell of composting leathers.

A common misconception is that Grasse, especially the old town, smells like perfumes, but that is not the case. When I visited, only perfume shops and museums had a scent of floral sweet perfumes.

At the time of my visit, I arrived late to the Musée International de la Parfumerie (they close by 5pm) and could not tour the museum. But their perfume shop was enchanting.

First, let’s start with the city centre …
