In 2019, the number of identified victims rose greatly compared to the previous reporting year. This was especially seen in victims identified from South Africa, whose numbers rose 3 times as much as 2018. This may be due to the combined efforts of government interventions and intensified training of frontline officers in identifying trafficking. (United States of America Department of State, 2020)
