Transparency is at the heart of my project. This privacy policy explains clearly what data I collect when you use my app, why I need it, and how I protect it.
1. Data required to play
In order for Song Go to function and for you to collect music, I need some basic information:
- Unique Identifier (User ID): When you launch the game, I create a unique and anonymous identifier associated with your device. This allows me to save your progress and your music collection without needing to ask for your name or personal information.
- Precise Location (GPS): Song Go is a real-world exploration game. To validate that you have "captured" a song, the app must verify that you are physically near it. Your precise GPS position is sent to my server only at the time of capture for validation. It is NEVER stored in my databases, and I do not keep any history of your movements.
2. Analytics and Game Improvement
To understand how the game is used and to improve it (fixing bugs, adding features), I analyze the overall behavior of players.
- In-game Actions: I collect statistics on specific events—for example, whether you listen to a song after finding it, or which music provider (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) you selected.
- Use of Mixpanel: To process these statistics, I use a secure third-party service called Mixpanel.
- Approximate Location: Mixpanel temporarily uses your IP address to determine the general region or city you are playing from. This helps me understand the distribution of players worldwide.
3. Data Sharing and Selling
I do not sell any of your data.
None of your in-app actions, statistics, or identifiers are ever shared with third parties for advertising or commercial purposes. The only data transmitted to my partner Mixpanel is handled within a strictly controlled framework, solely for the purpose of providing me with internal statistics to improve the game.
4. Your Rights (Access and Deletion)
In accordance with data protection laws (including GDPR), you maintain full control over the information you generate. You have the right:
- To ask me questions about how your data is managed.
- To request access to the data associated with your unique identifier.
- To request the total and permanent deletion of your data and progress from my servers.
