⚡ What you'll work on

For this role, you will:

• You’ll use Elixir, Postgres and ElasticSearch to build backend product features end to end to help us scale to 100s of millions of messages per day and enable complex communication workflows with real-time data synchronization.
• Design and implement a scheduling system for messages that take into account different variables, from third-party API rate limits to compliance controls to optimize deliverability.
• Build an integration system that allows any business to plug in their communication channels and instantly access our application infrastructure from marketing campaigns, customer support inbox, sales sequences or more.
• Participate in vendor selection processes so we can outsource undifferentiated pieces of our architecture. We are a small team and we expect to stay comparatively small as we scale this means we leverage APIs or open-source tools as necessary in order to maximize time spent building differentiate user-facing products.

🎯 What we're looking for

• A strong understanding of backend architectures and databases. We’re not necessarily looking for someone with many years of engineering experience, we know first-hand that people with a genuine curiosity and a willingness to learn can ramp up in a new field very quickly. However, we do expect applicants to have programming experience either through, professional experience, open-source contributions or personal projects that demonstrate fundamental knowledge.
• Someone who is comfortable working async and has great written communication skills. We have the option to work in person depending on location but some portion of our team will always be distributed. This means you need to be comfortable communicating your ideas in writing. You will also need to be diligent about your boundaries because the end of your day may overlap with the start of someone else's.

🌎 Where you'll work

Our CTO is based between Dublin, Ireland and Los Angeles, U.S.A, but we hire all over the world. We are time zone agnostic.
