Feminist Frequency is a nonprofit dedicated to advocating for a more just and equitable media landscape and the end of abuse in the games industry. Our latest initiative is the Games and Online Harassment Hotline, a free, text message-based, confidential emotional support hotline for anyone who makes or plays games. We take a compassion-forward, trauma-informed, and survivor-centered approach to providing a support space for people experiencing a variety of mental health, harassment, or workplace struggles.

We’re really proud of our media focused work, our Hotline, and our upcoming projects and are driven to make it even more accessible and sustainable.

Why we need you

Our social media needs a full revamping and re-energizing, and you are the perfect person to do it. You are a powerhouse of knowledge both in video games culture and systemic anti-oppression politics. You understand our values as an organization and can apply them to creating a social media environment that is appropriate for our two different channels (@femfreq and @gameshotline).

Your constant flow of creativity allows you to come up with new ideas on how to engage our audience and share our message. You have a pulse on what’s going on in the world as well as in gaming spheres and can respond in real time to be a part of important conversations, but you also know when we should instead amplify others’ voices.

You are an exceptional communicator. You’re great at distilling complex topics down to a tweet thread, at acknowledging difficult moments with care and compassion, and at being educational while validating anger at injustice. You’re also cognizant of the power of language and rhetoric, particularly around mental health and trauma related issues, and thus your public messaging about the Games Hotline will reflect our service’s goals to foster openness, encourage help-seeking, and promote interdependence.

Here’s what you’ll be doing

As our Social Media and Community Manager, you will be the voice of our organization. You’ll create and post content based around the work we are doing, our values, current events, and uplifting other organizations and voices.
