Work on Climate is one of the biggest and most active climate slack communities helping people around the world work on climate! As a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to help your fellow members on their climate journey, as well as network and collaborate with our awesome global team of volunteers.
🛠️ What will I do?
As a PR Specialist Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in promoting and enhancing several important initiatives in Q3. Your expertise in public relations, communication, and media relations will help us reach a wider audience, engage stakeholders, and build the brand awareness and credibility required to meet the next stage of our mission.
- Media Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to ensure accurate and positive coverage of our organization's activities, events, and initiatives.
- Press Releases and Media Kits: Draft compelling press releases, media kits, and other materials to effectively communicate our organization's news, achievements, and developments.
- Collaborate with team members to develop PR, distribution plans, and best practices for future publications and events.
- Event Publicity: Support the promotion and publicity efforts for events organized by the organization, ensuring maximum attendance and media coverage.
🤔 Common Challenges
- Understand the WoCl voice + brand to create quality content in line with our standards.
- Minimal oversight and management - we need someone who is deeply familiar with social media who can see gaps and push initiatives to address those gaps
✅ What skills and commitment do I need?
- Proven experience in public relations, communications, or a related field (education or previous work experience)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of media relations and experience in working with journalists and media outlets
- Be reliable and collaborative!
- Strong self-management and organizational skills
