Executive Summary

SmartDocs is a B2B SaaS utility designed for the Indian market to solve the time-consuming and error-prone process of manual bank statement data entry. This document outlines the MVP, which allows users to upload PDF statements and receive clean CSV/XML data, targeting CA firms and small businesses. 1. The Problem

Chartered Accountant (CA) firms and small businesses in India handle dozens of bank statements from various clients and banks every month. The data from these PDF statements must be manually entered into accounting software like Tally or spreadsheets like Excel for reconciliation, analysis, and filing. This process is:

• Time-Consuming: A single 10-page statement can take hours of manual, error-prone data entry.
• Error-Prone: Manual typing leads to mistakes that can cause significant reconciliation issues later.
• Inefficient: It's a low-value, repetitive task that consumes the valuable time of skilled junior accountants and CAs.

2. The Solution: Our Vision

SmartDocs is a simple, secure, and fast SaaS application that automates the extraction of transaction data from PDF bank statements. By uploading a statement, a user receives a clean, structured CSV or XML file in seconds, eliminating manual entry.

Our vision is to be the go-to utility for any Indian business professional who needs to get data out of a bank statement and into a usable format. We achieve this using a robust pipeline powered by Django, OCR (Tesseract), PDF parsers (PDFMiner), and the intelligence of the Gemini API for accurate data extraction.

• Primary: Priya Sharma, a Junior Accountant at a mid-sized CA firm in Rajkot.
