🔌 Requirements to Pull Smart Meter Usage from SmartMeterTexas.com
To retrieve energy usage data for a home from SmartMeterTexas.com, you’ll need three key pieces of information:
1. ESI ID (Electric Service Identifier)
-
This is a unique identifier assigned to every meter in Texas.
-
It’s typically a 17- to 22-digit number starting with ‘10’ and found on an electric bill.
-
🧭 Don’t have the ESI ID?
You can easily look it up using the home’s address via this tool:

2. Retail Electric Provider (REP)
- This is the company that provides the customer’s electricity (e.g., TXU, Reliant, Gexa).
- You’ll need to know which REP services the home to verify access and usage rights on SmartMeterTexas.
3. Meter Number
- This number is physically printed on the customer’s smart meter and also listed on their electric bill.
- It helps match the correct meter to the ESI ID and ensures you’re pulling the right data.
