Let's talk about one of my favorite things to do when I start a world: the horizon.
For me, the horizon sets up the tone and the style of the world. We are using the similar assets most of the time, so the idea of creating a unique skyline for each world, makes the whole difference.
Before starting a world, I always come up with a story. Where is this world? What's the climate? Is it day or night? Who lives there? What's the background story?
I'm going to share some of my ideas with you so you can get inspired and get started. If you feel temped to replicate one of my ideas, just add some salt and pepper and twist it a little bit. You can do it by yourself! No need to duplicate anything :). Get inspired, but don't copy. I trust youuuuu. If you need support to start a world, I can help you to brainstorm. Mental note: Caro, remember to create a design sprint for people to create Topia worlds using storytelling.
Ok, here we go:
The Village
My dear friend Gunel Eva (gran artista, mejor persona, as we say in Spain) created this dope skyline for one of our worlds called The Village. The Village is a futuristic sustainable city with solar punk vibes and clean sources of energy. In this world, we talk about community living projects, regenerative ways of living and more.

Agora
The next background, made also by Gunel Eva, is for Agora, a world where we talk about bold ideas, we have deep conversations and in general, we discuss brainy stuff.
As Wikipedia says: "The agora (/ˈæɡərə/; Ancient Greek: ἀγορά agorá) was a central public space in ancient Greek city-states. The literal meaning of the word "agora" is "gathering place" or "assembly". The agora was the center of the athletic, artistic, business, social, spiritual and political life in the city."
Cool, right?

The Oasis
The next skyline is much simpler, because I did it myself and I'm not that amazing as an illustrator (getting there, my friends, I got an iPad and Procreate to upgrade my Topia game, so you will see my evolution). This means that even if you are not an amazing artist, you can sort it out.
This place is an oasis in the middle of the desert in a secret location on Earth. There are 3 different tribes living here. They are considered the Water Protectors. Each one of the tribes holds information on how to face the main water challenges that we are suffering (water scarcity, water pollution and water distribution).
