Fifteen Minute Session Zero Checklist

When running a one-shot game, use the following checklist to quickly get the players up to speed on your game. See page 10 of the Lazy DM’s Companion for details.

• [ ] Introduce the theme of the adventure. Is it an investigation? Combat focused? Deep dungeon delving? Mostly social interaction? Let the players know what they’re in for.
• [ ] Reinforce the characters’ primary motivation to enjoy the adventure (“Your characters work together in cooperation to protect the citizens of the City of Arches”)
• [ ] Describe safety tools (see page 9 of the Lazy DM’s Companion for details)
  • [ ] Lines: Character-initiated torture, non-consensual sexual contact or harassment, non-consensual inter-party conflict, animal abuse, sexism or misogyny, anti-LGBT sentiments
  • [ ] Veils: Racism, consensual sexual contact, torture.
  • [ ] “Pause for a minute” (page 9 LDMC)
• [ ] Have players introduce the characters. Suggest inter-character connections (page 10 LDMC)
• [ ] Run your strong start!
