Sick leave benefits an employee who is unable to work effectively because of illness. It allows the employee to take some downtime for self-care and healing.

• Day 1 → Notify your manager. (You don't get paid for only one day)
• Day 2 -14 → Chalmers pays you 80% of your salary during the period of illness if you get a certificate from a doctor while being sick (does not work retroactively)
• Day 14+ → Chalmers supplements the benefits from Social insurance agency. The duration of your PhD studies will be extended accordingly.

Important: if you get sick during vacations, you get your days back! Just provide a doctor certificate if it’s more than 1 day.
