Eligibility

Eligible employees must meet the following criteria:

Amount, Time Frame, and Duration of Paid Leave

Eligible employees receive 12 sick days to use throughout the calendar year. No leave is accrued and leave is available immediately on hire. Sick leave may be used by the employee at their discretion for medical related reasons (including mental health).

Upon termination of the individual’s employment at the company, the employee will not be paid for any unused sick leave for which they were eligible.

Short-term and Long-term Disability

The company pays for Short-term Disability Insurance through MetLife. Employees may file a claim at any time and does not require approval by a team member.

You can learn about the policy on this page, where you can also file a claim. The maximum covered leave length is 26 weeks.

Short-term Leave

Employees are eligible for up to 12-weeks of unpaid short term medical leave. Longer leave will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

Employees in NY and WA are entitled to the state's benefits and apply for it directly through the state.

Voluntary Long Term Disability Insurance

Employees can opt-in to a long-term disability policy via Justworks (i.e., Voluntary Long-term disability).

Coordination with Other Policies

This policy conforms to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and local state and municipality laws where The Pudding has employees (New York, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Washington state, and Texas).

Requests for Paid Sick Leave

As is the case with all company policies, the organization has the exclusive right to interpret this policy.
