Shipping methods are the methods that your shoppers can use to send their products back to your warehouse. For each shipping method, you can add an amount that will be charged in case of a return shipment or an exchange shipment. Any order service that contains at least one exchange is called an exchange order. This amount will be charged once per service request i.e. once per service request. For example, if a shopper creates an order service that has two returns and one exchange, then the order service will be considered an exchange order service and the exchange amount will be deducted from the total.
Now, let's take a look at each of the shipping methods and the configurations you can do for each of them.
Set as Default: If you make this shipping method, this will be pre-selected when the shoppers try to return or exchange.
Label: This is the text that will be visible to the shoppers when they select this shipping method
Active: Choose whether the shipping method is active or not.
Return & Exchange Fee: The customers will be charged a fixed Return or Exchange fee which is customizable on this setting if they choose this method to return or exchange products.
Send a shipping label: In this shipping method, the shipping label will be provided to the shopper by the merchant, and they will be required to download and print that label and affix that to the package that they are sending back. You can toggle this method on and off. You can also charge the shopper an additional amount if they select this mode of shipping. The charges can be different for returns and exchanges. These charges will be flat rates, i.e. the same amount will be charged to the shopper regardless of where they send the product from.
Fixed Fee Labels: Customers will be charged a fixed fee for either returns or exchanges which is customizable whenever they choose this option to send their items back.
Example: If the settings are as shown in the picture above if a customer chooses to return an item a charge of USD 6.95 will be deducted from the refund amount and if it’s an exchange no fee will be charged.
Pass-through Labels: If this option is turned on then the shopper will be charged for the label they choose as the cost will be passed on to them.
Allow shoppers to select service level: If this option is turned on then the shopper will be shown a list of available shipping labels depending on the options the merchant has in place and they can choose from whichever they want to use. ex: USPS priority, USPS overnight, etc
Waive-Off’s :
There is also an option to waive the shipping fee for any service requests coming in that has one or more exchanges as it will then qualify as an exchange order.
