Subject: Signups open: COVID vaccine standby list

Dear friends,

I am writing to invite you to join Dr. B (hidrb.com), a nationwide **COVID vaccine standby list.

Today, there are millions of people who need the vaccine but are not yet able to get an appointment, and inequity of access to care continues to persist with historically underserved communities. Yet at the same time, vaccine providers occasionally experience no-shows or cold chain breaks that result in vaccines becoming available on short notice and needing to be distributed before they expire.

Dr. B is working to resolve this inefficiency in vaccine distribution and make the most of every dose. Dr. B’s system is free to use and works like an airline standby list: patients who sign up are prioritized according to state/local guidelines, and when a last-minute vaccine becomes available, it will be offered to patients in order of priority group and then time of signup with Dr. B.

Here’s how to make sure you, your families, and your communities can take advantage of this program:

  1. First, please continue to sign up for vaccine appointments directly with providers where possible. Dr. B is intended to be a backup option.
  2. Sign up for Dr. B (hidrb.com) to receive a notification if an earlier vaccination appointment becomes available for you. Signup is quick and easy. The service is only available in the US and is free for all patients and providers (any provider fees for administering the vaccine still apply).
  3. Spread the word to stop the spread! Just forward this email to family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and mailing lists to encourage them to get notified when a vaccine appointment becomes available to them. Please also share on social media. (Example: “Just signed up for the #DrB standby list to volunteer for a COVID19 vaccine if there’s a no-show and a dose becomes available on short notice. The list is ordered by risk factors and time of signup, and anyone can join at hidrb.com so get in line and pass it on!”)

Thanks and stay well,
