Proposal to Blaustein Foundation:
Shalom Aleichem will bring together Jews who identify as LGBTQ, as well as their friends and families, for an opportunity to learn and celebrate together as Jews on Shabbat. A local rabbi or scholar will be invited to speak at each gathering; among the potential topics will be LGBTQ equality and inclusion in our society, Yiddish culture and LGBTQ expression, the politics of LGBTQ identity in the 21st century, and the evolution of new LGBTQ Jewish rituals.
