Updating the severity of an incident lets everybody know both how urgent and how impactful it is. Severities changes can be made any time with /incident severity.
We'll update the channel topic, and also print out whatever description you've provided to let everyone know what the implications are.

Changes to severity, like many actions you perform in incident.io are persisted to your incident timeline, to be exported and analysed later. We display upgraded and downgraded severities separately.
