Skills Session:
Team Meeting
There are three roles in this meeting:
The three of you are part of a newly formed team planning for the launch of a community fab lab in Medellín, Colombia. There are over 3,000 of these labs around the world, which are open to the community and make available rapid prototyping equipment so that anyone can design and make (almost) anything, including furniture, hydroponic food production equipment, prosthetics, musical instruments, houses, and countless one-of-a-kind ideas.
Labs have been set up in some of the most troubled parts of the world, proving remarkably effective in bringing together former enemies around the shared experience of collaborative design. The positive experience with labs in Derry and Belfast Ireland, bringing together Protestants and Catholics, has led the European Union to support the use of labs in Colombia in communities where the FARC is reintegrating into society after three generations of armed conflict.
Some of you (in your roles) have been in fab labs and you have all seen pictures of fab labs around the world, such as this one from Iceland.
You are one of three people on the launch team for this new fab lab and are having your first meeting together. There are three scheduled issues on the agenda – one from each of you. You only have 35 minutes for this meeting, with the following time set aside for each agenda item.
