🎉 The Role

Your Core Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing multi-disciplinary team. You will be the team’s first dedicated member to expand our Data infrastructure and analysis efforts. Moon Surgical is aiming to be a data-driven organization and building a state-of-the-art data platform is key to our success. The Maestro system collects a variety of unique data from the operating room during its use and this data enables development of Maestro’s next generation of features and capabilities. Types of data that you would be working with include Robot telemetry, Laparoscopic video and 3-D sensor streams.

As an early engineer building the Data infrastructure at Moon Surgical, you will:

• Design, develop and implement Moon’s cloud based data platform to ensure that different stakeholders can access and analyze multi-modal data from Maestro systems
• Develop production software to ensure that all the required data is collected during real-time operation of the Maestro system in the operating room
• Develop a scalable data schema and format to support high bandwidth data collection and processing workflows. Example workflows include Machine learning algorithm developmcent, System failure analysis, etc.
• Develop tools and scripts to generate and visualize analytics derived from data collected on Maestro systems
• Understand and document requirements from different stakeholders for the Data that the Maestro system generates. Example stakeholders include - Current Users, Prospective Users, R&D, Marketing, Service teams etc.

How You’ll Fit In

• You will be reporting to our Staff Robotics Systems Engineer who will provide guidance and management on your short-, mid- and long-term projects within the organization through weekly 1-1 meetings
• On a daily basis, you will be working as part of a cross-functional & dynamic team covering various functional areas like R&D, Product, Marketing, Clinical and Operations
• You will be expected to be in constant communication with all our team members globally, with national and international travel on an as-needed basis
• You will be expected to work with 3rd party teams and consultants, to utilize commercially available products and tools to speed up development

🧭 Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis on Programming, Data Analysis etc.

• 4+ years of experience developing a data platform for complex IOT (Internet of Things) like devices. Medical device experience is a big plus

• Proficient in Python and C++

• Experience with AWS cloud services like EC2, RDS, EMR

• Working SQL knowledge

• Strong analytical skills working with structured and unstructured datasets
