Waist : hip circumference ratio - male < 0.9, female < 0.8

Useful predictor of cardiac disease

Blood pressure - recorded at least every 1-2 years on all people 16 years and over

Cholesterol - All adult aged 45 and over should have 5 yearly estimation, total cholesterol is adequate for screening

NHF - recommend keeping cholesterol level below 4.0 mmol/L

Fasting blood sugar - screen every 3 years all patient > 40 years

Cervical cancer - women aged 18-70, sexually active PAP test every 2 year

American Cancer Society recommended:

Mammogram - women aged 50-70, not useful for age < 40, 40-49 May choose to do mammogram

Colorectal Ca (CRC) - DRE examination with FOBT every 2 years for people over 50 year without symptoms

Past hx of large bowel Ca or colonic adenomas - colonoscopy

Past or present hx of UC - colonoscopy + biopsy

Familial polyposis, Gardner syndrome - sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy

2 yearly colonoscopy for people 25-30 if positive family hx

3 or more first or second degree relatives with CRC any age

2 or more first or second degree relatives diagnosed as CRC < 50
