<aside> Let me set the scene: a team of 3 rookies (including me) and a veteran dev/designer, pizza + cookies to keep us going, and good vibes~
While marinating in this setting for 8 hours, we were told to respond to the prompt: "How might we empower communities to adopt sustainable habits that reduce environmental impact?"

Rather than targeting sustainability from a climate perspective, my team and I focused on sustainable fashion, a space we had personal interest in.
We started out by researching the problem space, gathering key stats that could drive the direction of our project. Focusing on the decline in sustainable practices within the clothing industry, we chose to highlight the following:
<aside> The number of times a garment is worn has declined by around 36% in 15 years

<aside> The average US consumer throws away 81.5lbs of clothes every year
</aside>
<aside> 92 million tonnes of textiles waste is produced every year

As such, our train of thought went to incentivizing individuals to recycle and repurpose clothing, which then brought us to the idea of thrift-flipping. Thus, we came up with the problem statement:
How might we encourage communities to peddle upcycling/”thrift flipping” resources as a form of sustainable distribution in fashion and diy?
