Have you ever sworn to study with deep focus, but couldn't resist the temptation of Social Media? Were you ever frustrated when you gave up on a new diet because you saw a notification from Uber Eats? Have you ever committed to working on a side hustle on the weekend, only to drop it for getting drunk or high? You aren't alone, self-improvement has always been hard and it is much harder now.

We have only so much willpower. Companies have invested billions to get you hooked on their products. The best minds in the world are working together to capture your attention. Saarthi is a movement that attempts to counter these forces. Our mission is to assist individuals to achieve positive behaviour change. We create systems that leverage the power of technology making desired behaviour likely.
How?
Saarthi's behaviour change approach is built on three pillars.
- Commitment on Process: We distinguish between goals and process. Goals refer to the end state that the one aspires to reach. Process refers to the desired behaviour, one needs to perform to reach their goals. Having clear goals helps in setting direction and provides motivational fuel. Executing and improving upon processes, actually makes one achieve their goals. Eg. John desires to be the best selling author. His goal is to write the best selling book. The process is writing 2 hrs daily. He commits to the process is the only way he can finish his book.
- Consistent Tracking: The struggle with pursuing long term goals is real. The rewards of your labour are way in the future. Regular execution of the process in itself doesn't sound like a sexy goal. Daily tracking of behaviour is the ultimate Meta-Habit. It makes feel successful for executing a process and helps you observe your progress Eg. John has been writing for 2 weeks now. He realizes each X on his habit tracker brings him closer to his goals. He is proud of 14 consecutive Xs and now wants to build a 30-day streak.
- Tribal Accountability: When you join an accountability tribe, you enter a social contract. All tribe members as a group, commit to performing some behaviour. Humans are tribal, they crave acceptance, they fear shame. Studies show that having accountability groups increase chances of success. Eg. John gets cheered on by his tribe for his 30 days streak. He shares his hacks which in turn helps others in the tribe to improve their process. Johns loves his tribe they remind him of his writing potential.
Become a Champion
We invite motivated individuals to take part in Saarthi's challenges, become our champions. Champions embark on a 30-day challenge to build desirable habits one at a time. We have had various successful challenges in the past. They have been in various domains eg. Daily Fitness challenge, Deep Work challenge, Daily Writing challenge, Meditation challenge etc
Nov 2021 Meditation Challenge
We recognize Meditation as one of the great positive habits to develop. Many champions from diverse fields claim that it has contributed to their success eg. Steve Jobs, Kobe Bryant & Jerry Seinfeld.
If you want to develop a meditation practice but struggle with consistency, this challenge is a good fit. All champions become part of a Whatsapp community "30-day Champions".
The challenge consists of the following.
- Describe Daily Commitment: The champions must clearly describe their daily practice commitment. For Eg. "10 mins guided meditation in the morning after shower". It is important to be clear so that you know if at any day you succeeded or not. Little wins will compound towards larger behaviour change.
- Daily Habit Tracking: We use a habit tracker HabitShare. All champions must mark habits daily. The community manager(CM) has to ensure that everyone checks in. He/she reminds those who fail to mark by tagging them in the community group.
- Weekly Meeting (Optional): The community manager would organize weekly group calls. This gives an opportunity for champions to build stronger bonds and have a discussion around meditation.
- Group discussions(Optional): We encourage discussions in Whatsapp community. Often our champions are intelligent people learning a new skill. They have a lot of interesting questions and ideas. Participating in these discussions can be a learning experience.
The Meditation Challenge starts on November 8th PST.
