Subject–Verb Agreement means the verb must match the subject in number (singular/plural) and person (1st, 2nd, 3rd).
1️⃣ Basic Rules
Rule 1: Singular subject → Singular verb
- He plays football.
- The girl writes daily.
Rule 2: Plural subject → Plural verb
- They play football.
- The boys write daily.
Rule 3: ‘I’ and ‘You’ take plural verb forms
- I am happy.
- You are late.
- I/You play, eat, write (NOT plays/eats/writes)
Rule 4: Words joined by “and” → plural verb
Exception: When two words refer to one idea → singular
- Bread and butter is my breakfast.

Rule 5: “Either/Neither/Each/Everyone/Someone/Anybody” → singular verb (s/es )
- Each student has a notebook.
- Neither option works.
