In a world of abundance we all find it hard to find what we're looking for, and subsequently trust that we've made the right decision. We believe this is also valid in the professional environment, where making a match between talent and job has become increasingly complex. There are too many marketplaces, too many intermediaries, too many jobs openings, too many freelancers to choose from. Freelancers are increasingly being put in a position of 'quick and dirty' and are often not valued and invested in in the same way that people with a fixed contract are.

This is why we have chosen to prioritize quality and longevity over quantity. We are building an invite-only network that revolves around the principle of trust through association. In order to build the network we dream of, we want to work with people that we admire, people we can trust, people that have demonstrated to hold superb work ethics and who take pride in delivering top value for great clients. These are the type of people we aspire to include in our network. And what better way to grow the network than to ask the ideal members of the network to help along. That's why Opentalent is an invite-only network.

How it works:

As we build our network through referrals, when you apply to join we ask who referred you to our network. We will check if this person is already in the OpenTalent network. If your referrer is in our network, we believe that you are great at what you do and would be happy for you to join! We do work for big clients so we have to do some background checks to make sure that you are ready to work as a remote freelancer. We will conduct a number of checks that OpenTalent will automatically run you through, like ID verification, VAT checks and previous employer references

Over time we might open the network to a large part of the freelance community, or drop the invite-rule all together. But before we do so, we need to build the foundation for things to work. We need to develop a mechanism that instills trust in our network. We need to implement the right incentives for talent to focus on delivering results. We need to build a community that we are proud to work with us. We do all of this successfully we need to start small, before growing big.

People can always apply to OpenTalent, and we’ll reply to every sign up. People who typically do get invited will either have a sublime track-record or close ties to someone already in the network.
