WellTheory’s resource hub, Rooted in Science, exists to provide readers with evidence-based, actionable information on all things holistic health. Here at the Rooted in Science Resources, we do the deep digging for our readers to understand complex, scientific concepts (including finding relevant, robust research — we ask "why" a lot!) and then simplify these topics into digestible, actionable content that supports our readers in navigating their own health journey.

Our readers can trust that the information they read from us can help them through the next steps in their health journey — whether that’s for themselves or for a loved one because when it comes to health, the truth is what matters.

Our Writing Process

Each Rooted in Science blog goes through an extensive drafting, editing, revising, and approval process to ensure scientific accuracy and research relevancy. Our editorial team consists of fact checkers, editors, and a medical review board. As a writer you will draft SEO friendly blog articles and work with our editor to revise. From there, the article gets medically reviewed and fact checked before being published on the site.

• Our Medical Review Board is made up of board-certified physicians, registered dietitians, health coaches, and other medical experts. Members of the Review Board vet content containing medical facts and health claims, and provide the necessary critique that guarantees our information is up-to-date, accurate, and verified by primary sources.
• Our fact-checkers diligently review medical statements, claims, and recommendations for accuracy and timeliness. We rely on only the most current and reputable primary references, including peer-reviewed medical journals, government organizations, academic institutions, and advocacy associations.

About the Role

Writers will support with SEO-optimized content creation for the Rooted in Science blog. This is a contract role with room for writers to take on as many pieces as they’d like. Writers are not expected to pitch topics but instead will have access to our article repository to select article topics. Compensation is $200-400 per piece, dependent on article topic and research requirements.

Our Rooted in Science writers will:

• Conduct scientific research — using reliable and reputable primary sources for credibility and SEO visibility and digging into PubMed and other research articles to separate fact from fiction.
• Research and understand primary literature and statistics for use in written content and reference primary literature and statistics appropriately throughout all content.
• Research and write on a wide variety of topics, relating to topics for autoimmune patients (e.g., nutrition, stress, environmental toxins, etc.) and create highly referenced research based articles that define the new landscape of holistic health.

About You

You are an experienced and qualified writer with expertise and credentials in the areas of holistic health and autoimmune wellness. We have very high standards, something everyone who writes for us takes very seriously. You will love writing for us if you have a background in academic writing, love deep diving into PubMed research papers, and have a commitment to content integrity. You want to get on the ground floor of a health publication that values evidence-based writing and empowers individuals to reclaim their health.
