Train Your Mind to Be Present in the Spotlight

Step into the spotlight with purpose in this unique West Coast Swing intensive led by world champion Robert Royston.

This isn’t your typical critique class. It’s an assignment-driven experience designed to train your mind to stay present, responsive, and expressive under real-time pressure. Through guided tasks Robert gives, creative challenges, and focused feedback, dancers will explore how to turn instinct and mindfulness into artistry.

Each couple will dance to a short piece of music with a very specific artistic assignment for both leader and follower — from emotional storytelling to musical interpretation to communication — then perform it to strengthen mental focus and performance presence.

But you need to know that the spotlight experiece will only one of the bunch of excercices you will be challenged to do! Again: this isn’t your typical critique class - you’ll get knowledge, tips, excercices, and only one of those will be spotlight!

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to sharpen awareness, deepen connection, and own your moment in the spotlight.

Registration

Registration will open on Tuesday, 20 January 2026 at 5:00 pm sharp.

• A link to the registration form will be shared here and on the Facebook event page.
• Rules of registration will be the same as on the main King Swing registration. You can read the rules HERE.
• The most important rule is the order on the Intensive list for single followers/leaders — rule number 2 of the King Swing registration.
• There is a limited number of spots for both intensives, so save the dates and do not miss registration.

Important. Couples must register for the same level of intensive.
