Accent

Vocabulary

• Duolingo - By far the #1 app in the app store. 1.6 million reviews. Do 15-20 minutes a day and keep your daily streak alive!
• Use space repetition. Quizlet is a great app for learning vocab.
• Download Spanish in the google translate app.

Grammar

• 1-minute learning grammar framework by Tim Ferriss
• 📚E-books - If you like to read, get a kindle. It's easy to select a word or phrase and use the lookup function to quickly get a translation. Pick a book with simple language.

Listening/cultural

• Duolingo podcasts - also switch your Spotify account settings to Spanish.
• 🍿Netflix SpanishI find a cartoon like Los Tipos Malos to be best, because the language is simpler and it is easier to watch over and over. The first 2 times watch it with English language and Spanish subtitles; after that watch only in Spanish with Spanish subtitles. Eventually, you will be able to watch the whole thing without subtitles. It is better to watch one thing over and over than skipping around. This also works well on Disney+
• Spotify top charts - check out a Spanish speaking country and listen to the Spanish songs. These are helpful to know because they are the songs you will hear in clubs and taxis. I am terrible with lyrics so music didn’t really help me, but others have found it useful. Studies show music is a great way to learn a language, if you sing along..
• Create a new Youtube account and switch your default language to Spanish. The new account algorithm will then start feeding you videos for your “new Latino self”. Instead of NBA highlights, you start getting recommendations for 36 hours in Bogota.
