SRE context

• SRE = software engineering to ops → ultra-scalable, highly reliable systems.
• 모니터링은 SRE의 베이스. 신호 수집 → 가시화 → 경보(알림) → 대응.

Cloud Monitoring — what it does

• Ingest metrics / events / metadata → dashboards, charts, alerts.
• 간단 예: uptime/health checks 만들고 email 알림 받기.

Metrics Scope

• Cloud Monitoring의 루트 엔티티 (root entity for monitoring config).

• 하나의 scope 안에 1–375 monitored projects 포함 가능.

  → 그 scope에서 모든 프로젝트의 메트릭 가시화.

• Scope 안에 담기는 것: custom dashboards, alerting policies, uptime checks, notification channels, groups.

• Scoping project = 첫 번째 모니터링 대상 프로젝트 (scope 이름이 됨).

• AWS 계정 모니터링하려면 GCP 프로젝트에 AWS Connector 구성.

Dashboards

• 원하는 메트릭으로 custom dashboards 생성.
• 예시: VM CPU utilization, network packets/bytes sent/received, firewall drops.
• 노이즈 줄이기: filters, groups(time series 수 축소), aggregations(여러 series 묶기).
